Rain Forest(EST Demo Mix)

Tips/Secret(s):

0.
When your EQing a bass, it doesnt necessarily mean you need to boost the low's
like 0Hz - 190Hz.. (for example)
EQing a bass really depends on what you plan on adding, or already have in the project.
if you have added percs that use a good amount of bass for example,
you need to either lower these low's or lower your bass sound low's.

another thing is, there are 2 kinds of low basses in all kind of songs which can be either a 'low bass' or 'deep bass'
its very easy to actually hear the differ between the 2.
deep bass; often uses the low end of the piano(roll) like C2 or C3 for example, its very deep.
sometimes unhearable(but you might feel it tru big or bigger speakers)

low bass; can be anywhere between C3 - C4 - C5 for example.. this one however CAN be heard,
this also depends on how you EQ it.
unless you plan on high passing it which makes no sense at all..
thats just using space you probably need for something else.

what i do is actually 'plan' the whole thing, without planning.
i just wait until something bothers my ears and try to clean it up.

1.
always use a string in ur housy/trancy track,
doesnt matter if its a single note, minor or major, it doesnt matter.
as long as it sounds alright with all the other sounds/instruments it should be just perfect.

2.
i often use something called Sausage Fattener, its a 'new' Dada Life plugin,
and can be used on both MAC and Windows [Logic Pro - Fruity Loops] users.
However im not sure if other programs such as above will support the plugin.

3
once upon, when one had spoken theador and bless,
you never ever use reverb on THE kickdrum bc it turns into a mess.
however,
with heart and soul i know it can be arranged.
in your words; i DO use reverb on my kicks.

4
always highpass cymbals to a trusty point; a point you like.
however keep the MID ones called Percs such as; a tom, or drum kinda sound,
in its original state, lowcut instead. otherwise you might not be able to handle the bass all together.

5
sidechain is a must,
one once said NOT to use it at ALL.
however i was stubborn yet young and i use it allot nowadays.

6
and finally
Master EQ
lowcut between 0 - 35/40Hz
Highcut between 16000Hz - 20000Hz
its often said those are the 'pain creators'
or the 'headache-starters'
same goes for 200 - 300Hz.
however, do as you like.

READ:
this DOES effect all the other sounds/instruments,
thats why you need to keep ear for those bass levels.
in your words; IF you lowcut a Master EQ,
you probably can or need to boost the bass at the sounds whom need it.
and this is NOT related to a personal choice, its based and related to knowledge.

about them Sausage Fattener,
google it :)
there is some 4shared download link out there,
and make sure to ONLY use/install the 32bit version.
im having a 64bit system,
and really thought this tru [by installing the 64bit version]
but instead of a working Sausage Fattener, i got a dead one.
so i installed the 32bit which works perfectly fine ever since :) [3 days]

ONE OTHER THING; [for Fruity Loops users only]
if ur having.. trouble using a certain kick (doesnt matter what kick)
you can always use 1% or 2% of the SINE FX @ the legacy effects.
i know you shouldnt boost this thing to 20% for example.. just changes the kick into a sine kinda punch sound lol.
but using 6% at the SAM mix (Sine Amp Modulation) in combination with the SAM speed (this setting HAS to be the basic note ur using) for example a G# which im using in my latest track Veraciously (you have to do this little trick by ear, otherwise it just fails and i wouldnt recommend this to beginners...)

however.. think as you like, this little trick has been usefull to me for many times.
i only use this on kickdrums just because they have the best amount of bass other then percish sounds..
so if you or anyone is about to use this, try not to overdo things :)
